ADRIANNA: SEPTEMBER 2018

This beauty absolutely thrives in fall colors!  As soon as the leaves start to turn, I know that I’m about to get some gorgeous shots!

How To Fake Golden Hour

Hey There! In this post i’m going to outline the best way to “fake” golden hour lighting.  I would first like to add that sometimes harsh daylight makes photos a lot harder to edit, and obviously the real thing is always the best, but sometimes it can be difficult to line up the hours perfectly.  So let’s get into it.

the photo shown below was taken at about 2:00 PM on a very sunny day.  As you can see, the lighting is harsh and washes out the photo entirely!

STEP 1: raise the brightness of the photo

this will allow you to see the colors you are working with and make the photo appear less washed out.

Using Adobe Lightroom CC, I amplified the Exposure by +1.80.  As you can see, the difference is already astounding!

STEP 2: warm the photo up

During golden hour, the sun provides a warm and golden light.  To mimic this, I enhanced the Temperature by +20

STEP 3: color corrections

Golden Hour tends to wash out greens and enhance golds.  To mimic this look, I changed the hue of the yellow tones -54 and enhanced the saturation by +29.  I also altered the hue of the greens -53 and desaturated them by -54.  If needed, work with the hue of the reds to give them a more orange look.

There you have it: a “faked” golden hour photo!  Feel free to comment with any questions, concerns, or just to chat!  I would love to see edits following these tips 🙂DSC_0136 4.JPG

*NOTE Adobe Lightroom CC is a free to download application on apple and android devices that provides beautiful edits similar to the computer version of Adobe Lightroom

EMILY: SUMMER 2018

Believe me when I say that I had been wanting to schedule a shoot with this girl for YEARS.  Finally, only a week before she left for college, we took these beautiful shots!

Emily is beautiful inside and out; she’s smart, kind, and has the most beautiful singing voice.  I know that she will go far in whatever path she decides to take!

ROWAN: SUMMER 2018

Sweet Rowan was only the beginning of my summer shoots.  Her striking blue eyes and natural beauty made this shoot so easy and so much fun!

The foothills of North Georgia provides the most stunning background for any photo.  I just wish that it looked like this in Texas.  It is such a blessing to have family in the charming town of Dahlonega, GA that provides so many natural beauties such as the vibrant flowers and natural creeks that create such unique photo opportunities.
